Save Radcliffe Pool Group met yesterday with our Radcliffe on Trent Parish Council in advance of Weds, 5th February Extra-Ordinary Meeting relating to the future of the swimming pool at Radcliffe on Trent.
This meeting has been co-ordinated by the Radcliffe on Trent parish council in response to public demand surrounding the strength of feeling surrounding the future plan to demolish the Radcliffe on Trent swimming pool as a part of South Nottinghamshire Academy's rebuild.
While our Parish Council are acting as the hosts for this event, they will not be sharing their views publicly. Instead, it is their hope that by convening this meeting, it will offer an opportunity for all parties involved in the discussion to put across their views to the public in a constructive and positive way that will facilitate the opportunity for collaborative working on this emotive public issue.
The future of the pool remains in a volatile position and the work of the Save Radcliffe Pool Group continues to seek support for a reconsideration of the South Nottinghamshire Academy build plan in a way that will enable the Radcliffe Community to seek out funding options and opportunities that will facilitate the ongoing permanence of a pool in Radcliffe on Trent.
Needless to say this is a complex and emotive issue. While the Save Radcliffe Pool Group do not want to impact upon the development of the school itself and are supportive of the plans to rebuild the school, equally they feel that it is important to allow the community to share its views on the subject and no doubt the strength of feeling will become evident at Wednesday evening's meeting.
The agenda for the evening includes presentations from South Nottinghamshire Academy, Radcliffe on Trent Pool Association, the Radcliffe Pool group and will include a question and answer session before closing with an address of activities to carry forward for the future.
In this instance, our Radcliffe on Trent Parish Council are acting as facilitators in this meeting and do not have any powers to sway the building decisions and plans for the South Nottinghamshire Academy rebuild.
This meeting will be held on Weds, 5th February at the Grange Hall, Radcliffe on Trent
Dedicated to providing information of significance to our community in Radcliffe on Trent. Active campaigns include opposition to the development of Shelford Road and RSPCA sites, and support for the Save Shelford Valley campaign.
